What information do we collect?

In general, you can use this website without giving us any information. However, additional services may be available if we have certain information about you.

We may collect the following information:

Your name and contact information, including email address, geographical address, employment history, educational background and leisure interests in order to consider an application for employment or as engagement as a self employed Agent. We may also collect your date of birth, gender, nationality, racial origin and information regarding any disabilities you may have in order to monitor the effectiveness of our policies and procedures with regard to equal opportunity in employment or to help improve our approach to agent engagement, retention, performance and security.

What do we do with the information we collect?

We use this information:

  • to assess your suitability for employment with us or your suitability for engagement as a self employed Agent.
  • to carry out a search with a licensed credit reference agency who will keep a record of the search.
  • to search our own databases and those of other group companies.

If your application is successful we may use your information (including the sensitive information below) and disclose it to other group companies and companies who provide a service to us:

  • for personnel administration and management purposes.
  • to send you details of products/services of group companies, unless you ask us not to (in writing).
  • to carry out further credit reference agency and group company database searches from time to time.
  • for the purpose of fraud, prevention and detection.
  • for the administration of pensions, share options, private health care and permanent health insurance schemes, where appropriate.

We may also disclose information about you when necessary to a variety of third parties such as local and central government departments, the Police, Courts, Tribunals, Solicitors etc.

If your application is unsuccessful we may retain your information for not more than 6 months from the date we inform you of our decision.

Sensitive Information

We may collect the following Sensitive Information:

  • Physical or mental health information for the purpose of equal opportunities monitoring, for absence monitoring, and for administering the company’s sick pay and permanent health insurance schemes.
  • Information about criminal offences (including alleged offences) and any sentence imposed by the court for the purpose of determining whether to offer or withdraw the use of a company vehicle, to investigate possible fraud and in furtherance of disciplinary proceedings.
  • Trade union membership solely to facilitate deduction from salary of trade union subscriptions and maintain details of trade union representatives to facilitate fulfilment of their duties.

How to get copies of the information we have collected

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. A small fee will be payable. If you think any information we have about you is incorrect or incomplete, please write or e-mail us as soon as possible. We will correct or update any information as soon as possible.
